What our email marketing work covers
Email is one of four levers in our 90-day sprint and part of retention. You write to people who already bought from you or signed up, so the channel costs $0 in extra ad spend. Julian, our Head of Retention, owns email and WhatsApp. Melissa designs the emails.
Automated flows
Welcome, abandoned checkout, abandoned cart, browse, post-purchase and winback. Built once, they run every day.
Campaigns
A send calendar matched to launches, stock and promotions, sent to segments instead of the whole list.
Segments
First-time buyers, repeat buyers, lapsing customers, product interest and order value.
List growth
Sign-up forms and pop-ups on your store, so more visitors leave an address before they leave.
Design and copy
Mobile-first emails in your brand voice, written for your product and your customers.
Deliverability
Sender domain authentication, list hygiene and a send rhythm that keeps you in the inbox.
Types of email marketing firms and how they differ
Most rankings of email marketing firms list names. The better question is which model fits your store, because the models differ in what they own and how they report results:
| Model | Strength | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Platform specialist | Clean setup, data sync, flow templates in one tool | Often stops after the build |
| Full-service email agency | Flows, campaigns, design and copy from one team | Treats email apart from ads and the store |
| Freelancer | Flexible and quick for single projects | No holdouts, no backup when they are busy |
| In-house team | Knows the brand and the catalog best | Daily work crowds out testing and new flows |
| Harucon | Email as part of retention, measured in shop revenue | Guarantee starts at $3M annual revenue |
If your store runs on Klaviyo, a Klaviyo agency setup may be all you need at first. If you are still on Shopify's built-in tool, our guide to Shopify email marketing shows when a switch pays off.
Attributed revenue vs. extra revenue
Email platforms credit an order to an email when it happens within a window after an open or click. A loyal customer who opens your newsletter on Friday and orders as planned on Saturday counts as email revenue. Ad platforms do the same, so the sum across channels often beats what actually arrives in your store.
A holdout group shows the real number. A random slice of recipients does not get the flow, and you compare revenue per recipient:
| Example: post-purchase flow, one quarter | Value |
|---|---|
| Recipients in flow | 12,000 |
| Revenue per recipient, flow | $3.10 |
| Revenue per recipient, holdout | $1.90 |
| Revenue the email tool reports (12,000 × $3.10) | $37,200 |
| Extra revenue (12,000 × $1.20) | $14,400 |
Both numbers are correct. They answer different questions. For budget and priorities, extra revenue is the one that counts, and we check it against repeat-customer revenue in your shop backend, minus returns.
When hiring an email marketing firm pays off
- You have tens of thousands of subscribers but send a newsletter now and then.
- Your flows date from the original setup and nobody has touched them since.
- Most revenue comes from paid ads, and repeat orders barely register.
- Your team keeps up with daily work but has no time for segments, tests and design.
Email is usually the cheapest line in your cost of customer retention, as long as you count discounts and measure extra revenue. For fast, short messages such as shipping updates we add marketing in WhatsApp where your customers use it.

How to choose among email marketing firms
- Ask for shop revenue. Open rates and tool-attributed revenue alone prove little.
- Ask about holdouts. Without a control group nobody knows which revenue is extra.
- Ask for a priority list. High-volume flows close to purchase come first, design polish later.
- Ask who builds. A strategy deck brings no reorders. You need someone who works in the account.
- Ask about discounts. A firm that puts a code in every flow grows revenue and shrinks margin.
Harucon sees itself as a growth partner. We do not sell hours or newsletter packages. After the intro call you get a fixed offer in writing, before anything starts. The guarantee starts at $3M annual revenue, and you can book a call below that.
Email marketing firms: FAQ
What do email marketing firms do?
They plan, build and run automated flows and campaigns, split the list into segments, design the emails and keep them out of spam folders. At Harucon that includes measuring revenue in your shop backend, minus returns.
Which email flows does an online store need first?
Welcome, abandoned checkout and abandoned cart, because they reach many people close to a purchase. Post-purchase, browse and winback come next.
Which email platform do you work with?
We work in your existing account, for example Klaviyo, and build from there. We only suggest a switch if your current tool cannot run the flows or segments you need.
How do you measure email marketing success?
By revenue in your shop backend, minus returns. A holdout group that gets no email shows which part of that revenue the emails added.
How much work is it for my team?
Very little. We build in the account ourselves. Your team gives access, names one contact person and approves copy and designs.
What does an email marketing firm cost at Harucon?
That depends on the size and starting point of your brand. After the intro call you get a fixed offer in writing, before anything starts.
How much revenue sits in your list?
On the intro call Tobias looks at your flows, list and repeat-buyer share with you and shows where the biggest lever is. 5 quick questions, then straight to the calendar.
